Preparing caps for use: how should you track the conditioning instructions?
Link the product instructions to storage and line records, keeping preparation records separate from the decision to release the product for use.

Separate storage from preparation for use
When caps arrive, their suitability for use on the line cannot be decided from the delivery date alone. First match the full product code, variant and applicable technical data sheet. If the sheet calls for conditioning before use, build the preparation record around that instruction. Do not transfer another cap’s duration or environmental conditions to your product.
Permitted storage conditions and the conditions required before application are separate matters. Read the storage and capping/application sections of the sheet together. A storage record alone does not demonstrate that the pre-application conditioning took place. Where the document does not define the starting point or method, request technical clarification using the product code instead of making an assumption.
Link the instruction to the complete product identity
A suggested preparation record includes the product code and variant, batch information, the cartons or pallets covered, and the document and revision details of the sheet used. Distinguish different batches within one delivery. Do not guess an unreadable batch identifier or an unknown time. This record format is purchasing and quality guidance; it is not a claim that Peksan has a common procedure for every product.
Keep timing and available environmental records together
Link the time the material entered the preparation area, its location, the available environmental records and the time it was allocated for use. Recording elapsed time alone does not prove that the environmental conditions in the instruction were met. Without documented instructions, do not assume that packaging should be opened, carton-core conditions monitored, the period restarted after a temperature change, or heating used to shorten it. If the instruction is unclear, clarify with Peksan which material is covered and how it should be assessed.
Do not turn an incomplete or deviating record into acceptance
If information about the conditions is missing, record that gap explicitly. Identify the affected product, batches and cartons and the authorised quality assessment. Estimating elapsed time retrospectively or copying another batch’s record weakens traceability. Link the decision to use the product, its basis and the decision owner to the relevant record.
What does completing the conditioning period establish?
The preparation record helps assess whether the instruction was followed. It is not, by itself, approval of leak-tightness, hygiene, shelf life or filling-line suitability. Timing intervals used to assess application and removal torque are separate records too. Manage the relevant measurements and acceptance conditions within the scope of the particular method and product.
Prepare one file for the technical enquiry
Bring together the full product code and variant, batch and carton scope, the sheet used, available environmental and timing records, and the point requiring clarification. For example, ask “Which condition defines the starting point of the conditioning period?” with the product information attached. The 038.016CTP10L product page and technical data sheet are examples examined to compare the instruction sections; they do not provide a common duration or temperature for other products.
