How should closure prices and production costs be assessed?
Define the product being compared
Treating every closure of the same nominal diameter as one product can distort a price comparison. Material, part count, sealing system, tamper evidence, colour and packing may differ. When comparing glass-bottle closure prices, the glass bottle itself is not a complete specification: a screw cap and a stopper remain different products. Establish the full code or approved specification first.
This guide is not a current price list. It does not quote unit prices, discounts, minimum quantities or delivery times on Peksan’s behalf. Confirm these against the quotation date, product and order conditions. An amount in an older online article should not be treated as binding for a new order.
What can affect unit price?
Material and part weight, processing operations, assembly or liner application, inspection and packing can affect cost. Batch size and repeat-order plans also matter for scheduling. Do not assume that higher quantities always generate a fixed discount or that a single-piece design must be cheaper.
Describe special colour, printing or design requests precisely. Check whether an operation included in one quotation is charged separately in another. Similar-looking products with different testing requirements are not necessarily equivalent.
Tooling and development costs
Where new tooling or design is required, separate one-off expenses from recurring product charges. Clarify the scope of samples, trials, modifications and maintenance responsibilities. Forecast annual demand and individual order quantity are different inputs. State volume assumptions without presenting uncertain demand as a firm production commitment.
Compare complete supply terms
Read pack quantities, freight, payment terms, currency, tax scope and delivery location alongside the unit price. Nonconforming parts, line interruptions and repeated trials can also affect a purchasing decision, but unsupported savings percentages should not be invented.
Confirm technical suitability through samples and check quotation validity before deciding. The lowest headline price alone does not identify the best solution. Clear bottle drawings, product information, quantities and delivery requirements help suppliers prepare quotations that can be meaningfully compared.
